Tech and Ramen has been a side project of mine for some time. It all started with an ailing HP Pavilion and a room full of computer geeks. The first year of college was hard for many reasons; however, my limited understanding of technology and failing computer made life all the worse. It was a time when I still believed that AOL was a necessary tool to access the internet, and Norton Confidential was quickly turning my computer into a brick. The dorm room was stifling, but my room mates spent most of their time in Azeroth. They were experts with computers, and I was a sniffling child. It was this mammoth gap in understanding that ignited my interest in computers and technology. As funny as it may sound, it was friends’ blatant hatred towards Apple that led me to its products. I remember seeing the first aluminum iMac commercial and thinking “This is what I’ve wanted all along.” That iMac still sits on my desk, but the “It’s only for graphic designers” attitude that stereotyped Macs for so long is gone.

Looking back on the squashed dorm room and the perpetual summer inside its brick-oven walls, I can’t help but think of all of the ways that it and the people inside have shaped my life. It was one of my original roommates that brought me to Japan and all of the cultural gold that has become such a large part of my life. I spent six months of my short life working in Japan, and the experiences that I’ve had there continue to shape me.

So what does this mean for you oh dear reader? This blog is a hodgepodge of personal writings, reviews, and experiences. You will find everything here, including things that you may not wish to find. But it’s all in good fun, and I hope that I’m able to bring some sort of joy to your life, or at least an interesting discussion.

Don’t be a stranger,

Chris
